Current Project: Activate, Switch & Pause

AXQA uses a Current Project to define your active project context while you work inside the platform.
Activating, switching, or pausing a project changes your working context without changing the project's underlying lifecycle status.

Why it matters

Keeps testing activity connected to the correct project.
Reduces the risk of creating or executing assets under the wrong project.
Makes it easier to move between multiple QA projects while maintaining clear context.

When to use it

When starting work on a project.
When moving from one project to another.
When you temporarily want to remove the active project context.
Before managing project-specific builds, tests, APIs, or other testing assets.

Core concepts

Current Project – The project currently selected as your working context.
Activate – Makes a project your Current Project.
Switch – Replaces the existing Current Project with another project.
Pause – Removes the project from your current working context.
Project Status – The lifecycle state of the project, such as Demo, Active, or Closed.

How it works

Select a project you are authorized to access.
Activate the project.
AXQA sets it as your Current Project.
Project-related workflows use the active project context where applicable.
Switch projects when you need to work on another project.
Pause the project when you do not want an active project context.

How to use it

Step 1: Select the project

Open the Projects area and locate the project you want to work with.

Confirm the project name before activating it.

Step 2: Activate the project

Use the available Activate action.

The selected project becomes your Current Project.

You can now continue with project-specific workflows supported by AXQA.

Step 3: Work inside the project context

Once activated, use the Current Project as the context for your testing activity.

Depending on the AXQA feature you are using, this may include:

Builds
Test Cases
Test Plans
APIs
Execution workflows
Smart Agent operations
Reporting and history

Step 4: Switch to another project

When you need to work on another project, select the new project and activate it.

AXQA replaces your previous Current Project with the newly selected project.

Switching projects does not delete, close, or modify the previous project.

Step 5: Pause the Current Project

Use Pause when you want to remove the project from your current working context.

After pausing, the project still exists and keeps its existing data and lifecycle status.

You can activate it again later.

Best practices

Confirm the Current Project before creating or executing project-specific assets.
Use clear project names to reduce confusion when switching between projects.
Switch projects intentionally instead of keeping the wrong project active.
Pause the project when you no longer need an active working context.
Check the project context before making changes to builds or testing configuration.

Common mistakes

❌ Assuming Pause closes the project.
✔ Pause only removes the project from your Current Project context.

❌ Assuming Switch modifies the old project.
✔ Switching only changes which project is currently active for you.

❌ Creating a test before checking the Current Project.
✔ Confirm the active project before creating project-specific testing assets.

❌ Using Project Status and Current Project as the same concept.
✔ Project Status represents lifecycle state; Current Project represents your working context.

Security & permissions

You can only activate projects that you are authorized to access.
Project visibility and project execution permissions are evaluated separately.
Activating a project does not grant additional permissions.
Switching projects does not change project ownership, membership, or visibility.
Pausing a project does not change its security configuration.
